Central Oregon teens find creative way to serve community’s youth

Not all families have the means to throw a child a birthday party.

That’s what a few middle schoolers realized last year while brainstorming ways to help their community. Five girls make up Camp Fire Central Oregon’s Teens In Action. While trying to think of a community service project, they realized there were probably Central Oregon families who could use help giving their children birthday parties.

“We thought it would be cool to do this for other kids,” said Kira Kronberg, 13, a member of Teens In Action and an eighth-grader at Rimrock Expeditionary Alternative Learning Middle School.
